Mark Baumer

These are some stories about people who died in 1983

On the surface the “People who died in 1983” stories are simple. They are stories about people who died in 1983. People who died in other years will just have to wait until the Best American Series puts out a book in their year. Still, people have asked, “Why 1983?” That’s a little more complicated, but if I want to make it as simple as possible I’ll just be honest and say it came down to me having a pretty big ego.

Who is Mark Baumer

Mark Baumer once went fishing on a boat out in the ocean and threw up overboard.

brief update number "i am a swimming pool"

I have not written a brief update on this site for a long time. Things have changed. I am in California. This is my favorite picture from the whole trip.

california trip

No, it’s a stupid picture. There are better ones. I am wearing a Chris Webber jersey. I wonder if anyone thought I was Chris Webber. Maybe they thought I was his brother. Okay, I guess that is all for this update. I should say other things. I should mention the change in the site. Some things are wider. Other things are not. A few things disappeared from the front page. They are other places. They still exist.

Also, I would like to show you Roy Kesey’s Two-Minute Mind. His Two-Minute Mind is a bed. There are other Two-Minute Minds here. I think this font is two big. I don’t mind. My grandmother doesn’t have a computer, but if she did I wouldn’t want her to strain her eyes.

This is more of a biography of the author of Moxietown than a review of the book.

Review: No One Belongs Here More Than You By Miranda July

Maybe this book is not a masterpiece, but certainly it is worth a read or two even if you’re not really reading it and only looking at your hands…I really don’t think Miranda July would mind.

Review: The Strangers

strangers review

Okay, so this video is kind of lame. It's pretty corny. Oh well. One take and we threw it on the internet. The Strangers is seriously a very scary movie.  And also, don't let this picture tell you anything.  To me this picture kind of looks comical.  It wasn't in anyway.  Still i can't help but laugh at this picture.  Why is the guy wearing a giant baseball cover on his head?

Spencer Dew is one of the best the internet literary scene has to offer. He's been published in Juked, The 2nd Hand, and Thieves Jargon, among others. His book Songs of Insurgency just came out in 2008.
