Fi Do where's the 'g'?

I was going to write a lengthy and astutely pithy response about the significance of naming a thing and how giving a name to a thing changes it, and how in a sense we do name things over and over anew everytime we say a thing's name, but I only know enough about this topic to allude to it, not enough to actually be astutely or pithy.

sorry.

ps. Speaking of pith, when I was a kid, my dad used to mow the lawn in a styrofoam pith helmet. (his head was in the pith helmet, not the lawn) To the best of my knowledge he was never in areas where such headcovering was the norm, nor was he ever a member of the British colonial military so I am not sure why he adopted such an affectation.

pps. Did you know that contrary to popular opinion, the pith helmet is not named for it's brevity but is instead named for a part of the plant used to make the pith helmet? I didn't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pith <== If it says so in wikipedia that means it has to be true.

ppss. I didn't know styrofoam came from plants.
